Poppers are narrow strips of fabric that outline fabric pieces in the entire quilt. This technique creates colors and designs that really stand out! These strips create a narrow separation between the fabric pieces which causes each individual fabric to stand out or Pop.
HOW DIFFICULT IS THE TECHNIQUE?
Anyone with basic quilting experience can master the Popper technique. Our patterns are easy to follow and outline each and every step. Classes featuring the Popper technique are offered in the" Piecing with Poppers Quilting Center". A different class is offered every month. Check them out on the Classes page.

The "PIECING WITH POPPERS QUILTING CENTER" was opened in 2014 by professional quilter Sharon Mayers who developed the " Piecing with Poppers technique" in 2011.She has designed and printed over a dozen patterns.Sharon has been a professional longarm quilter for over ten years, and a quilt piecer for 20 years. She has taught workshops and lectured all over New England at quilting guilds and has participated in many Quilt Shows demonstrating and teaching her Popper technique. While she has retired form traveling to the lectures and shows, she offers classes in the "Popper"technique in her quilting shop.
Sharon lives in Rhode Island where she opened her dream quilt shop which she named the "Piecing with Poppers Quilting Center". The Piecing with Poppers Quilting Center has a nice selection of fabric as well as kits and notions. "Peaches", Sharon's beloved longarm quilting machine, has a large bright room to quilt away on customer quilts to give them that beautiful finished look. The Quilting Center has two climate controlled classrooms where classes of all types of techniques in addition to the Popper classes are offered. The walls are lines with many Popper quilts and display quilts of all the future classes. She says she has her own private quilt show every day. This is truly a dream realized.
Throughout her career as a quilter, Sharon has enjoyed traveling around New England and getting to know many dear friends through quilting. She feels everyone who enters her quilt shop is a friend and she values every friendship.
